What are Lingual braces?
Lingual braces, also known as Concealed or Invisible braces are the best and only NON-visible method of fixed orthodontic therapy available. Because they are placed behind the teeth, they are virtually invisible.

Will they affect my speech?
Yes, initially all orthodontic appliances have some affect on the patient's speech. However, we have found that patients will take approximately 1-4 weeks to achieve a good comfort level. Just as conventional braces initially affect the cheeks and lips, Lingual braces will initially affect the tongue. Many patients choose to have Lingual braces on the top and clear braces on the bottom. However, we have many, many patients with Lingual braces on both arches. Would they do it again? YES!

What about cost?
Because special instrumentation, equipment, doctor and staff training are required for this technique, the cost a bit more than conventional braces. And treatment time is just the same as with conventional braces, sometimes, even less!

Do I have to pay for it all up front?
NO! At your initial no-charge consultation, Dr. Metelka will outline your treatment choices and give you a fee for your complete treatment. We then will work out a monthly interest free payment plan that works for you!

What about other options?
We are happy to offer conventional metal and clear brackets as well as Invisalign.

Our office uses specially designed brackets that provide you with improved comfort, appearance and oral hygiene. Not all brackets are created equal! Rest assured, we use only the highest quality brackets manufactured by one of the most reputable Orthodontic suppliers in the world. Our clear brackets are virtually invisible to the eye! And best of all, they will not discolor or stain over the course of your treatment.
